Congress to Honor Sosa With Resolution

WASHINGTON -- Several Illinois congressmen are expected to visit Wrigley Field on Friday to honor Sammy Sosa, even though the star is facing a suspension for playing with a juiced bat.

The U.S. House voted 372-0 Monday to congratulate the Chicago Cubs slugger on his 500th home run and praise him as a role model. Friday's ceremony is to present him with a copy of the House resolution.

A day after the House vote, Sosa was found to be hitting with an illegal bat.

Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., who sponsored the House resolution, said Thursday he never considered canceling the Friday event.

Had another corked bat been found in Sosa's locker, however, Gutierrez would've taken a different approach.

"I would have rolled up the resolution and sent it to him in the mail," he said.

Wtf is the major difference between having only a single bat and using it in a game versus having one at the plate and one in the locker room??

Thats true Hammy,,,, I heard from Brian McRae (ex teammate) that Sosa and others were known to play around with corked bats in Batting Practice.....So easily , there could have been another corked bat!

Also McRae said Sosa was known to just grab any bat and use it...So with that being said , maybe he just grabbed one,lol..Still doubtful, but he had been slumping....I don`t see 60 in Sammy this year.

One of the most pathetically hilarious episodes of 9-11 was when both members of Congress sang God Bless America on the Capital steps.

These idiots are absolutely useless. Both parties. Either they are passing stupid laws, passing stupid resolutions or trying to ham it up for the camera during national crises.

Thank God we at least have a real President in there. Bush is the only one I trust in DC! I at least know he has better things to do than be worried about Sammy's corked weapons of mass destruction in the Cubs dugout!
